Retail vacancy in West Hollywood has climbed from a low of 6.2% in late 2022 to 9.3% in the first quarter, placing it among the highest vacancy rates in Greater Los Angeles. Just a few years ago, in early 2019, vacancy in the area was more in line with the metro-wide average, which currently stands at 5.8%.

Recent leasing activity has included a mix of premium tenants. Erewhon, a high-end grocer, is preparing to open a 25,000-SF location at 8550 Santa Monica Blvd, taking over a former Sprouts space. In December, lifestyle and apparel brand Sporty & Rich signed a three-year lease for 5,600 SF at 8611-8619 Melrose Ave, with asking rents at $10.67/SF per month on a modified gross basis.
